Meditation course I

The meditation course consists out of eight classes where meditation and the understanding of meditation are the main themes. Meditation is a concept that is widely used in the West, yet not always fully understood.

MeditatieIn meditation it is very important that the process of meditating is understood. At the moment you understand how the mind works you know that there is need to exercise the mind to settle down and to be able to concentrate. This insight makes so that there is no disappointment when the first attempts to concentrate the mind are not fully successful. On the contrary, you can experience yourself that even though there are thoughts, you have a choice. The choice to be influenced by these thoughts or to retreat into the silence from where you can observe the thoughts. The experience of this freedom is the first step to deeper meditation. For it is in meditation that you can learn about your inner reality, experience it and ultimately realize this reality.

During this course you will learn that meditation can be an extension of your life. And that your life can be an extension of your meditation. In classes we will focus on the preparatory meditation exercises as well as on the practice of meditation. Furthermore, we discuss the "theory" of meditation and there is ample opportunity for personal questions about meditation at home or in class.

    * Proper posture
    * Proper time and place for meditation
    * The steps to meditation
    * Concentration exercises
    * Application and practice in daily life
    * Benefits of Meditation
    * Understanding how the mind and thought processes operate
